Family Planning

Contraceptive use and unmet need for family planning are key to understanding profound changes in fertility and to improving reproductive health worldwide. Family planning is also at the core of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development, where couples and individuals have the right to decide freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children and to have the information and means to do so. The Population Division produces estimates, compilations and analyses of family planning levels and trends and assesses Government concern and policies related to contraceptive use.

Comprehensive data, estimates and projections, and analyses are available in the following data sets, reports, briefs and infocharts.
