In accordance with Economic and Social Council decision 2005/213 of 31 March 2005, the Commission, immediately following the closure of the fiftieth session, held the first meeting of its fiftieth-first session for the sole purpose of electing a new Chair and other members of the Bureau, in accordance with rule 15 of the rules of procedure of the functional commissions of the Council.
