Socio-economic Indicators Manuals

This cluster contains one manual on analyzing census data and five Manuals of analytical and projection techniques for several indicators. Projected are not demographic characteristics per se, as in the clusters Population Projections and Internal Migration, but social and economic variables that are partly determined by demographic trends. This is why these Manuals are particularly valuable for experts in the planning departments of government agencies. They present the techniques to project the labour force and the demand for education services which require population data and are routinely prepared for the respective agencies. In addition, less often used techniques for projecting consumption, savings and expenditures are introduced. Since the reliability of population data determines the quality of projections, the Manuals in the cluster Demographic Estimates are highly relevant to this cluster.
